Who We Are
In Brief: Your child sees a physician - an MD or DO - at every visit
- ABC Pediatrics has cared for children in Corpus Christi and the surrounding community since 1994
- We are a physician-only practice: your child is seen by an MD or DO at every sick and well visit.
- Your child sees their own primary physician at each well-child checkup. Seeing the same doctor over time helps us know your child as they grow.
- Our care follows current medical evidence and focuses on prevention, so your child gets the best care available.
Well Child Checkup Schedule
In Brief: Regular checkup keep your child on track. Here is when they happen.
| Age | |
|---|---|
| First year | 3-5 days after birth; 2 weeks, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, and 12 months |
| Second year | 15 months; 18 months; 2 years |
| After age 2 | Once every year |
Checkups follow the schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Your child's doctor tracks growth, development, and milestones at each visit — and it's a great time to ask questions.
Vaccines
In Brief: Vaccines are highly recommended and are one of the best ways to protect your child.
- We highly recommend that all patients receive vaccines on schedule, following the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines.
- New patients: please bring your child's current vaccine record to the first visit.
- If you have questions about any vaccine, your child's doctor will gladly talk you through it.
- Vaccine records are always free on the patient portal.

Becoming a New Patient
In Brief: Three simple steps, and we'll guide you through each one.
- Call our front office. We'll gather your child's basic medical and insurance information, and we'll verify that we're contracted with your insurance plan.
- Once your family is accepted, we'll schedule your child's first well-child or sick visit.
- At the first visit, bring your insurance card and your child's current vaccine record. We'll also have you sign a release so we can request records from your previous pediatrician.
