We also encourage you to check our child health resources before calling for after-hours urgent care. 

For non-urgent matters or mild illness, scheduling appointments, or refilling medications, please send us a message through the portal or call during regular office hours.

Please do not use portal messaging for emergencies or urgent concerns. These messages are only read during regular office hours, so a message about an urgent problem may not be seen in time.

A pediatrician is a medical doctor who specializes in the care of children. Pediatricians have undergone special training in the health and illnesses of infants, children, teens, and young adults, including 4 years of medical school and 3 years of pediatric-only residency training. All of our pediatricians are certified by the American Board of Pediatrics after passing a comprehensive exam.

Pediatricians provide preventive health care for children in good health and medical care for children who are acutely or chronically ill. 

They also provide parents with support and advice on concerns such as growth and development, safety and prevention, nutrition, and emotional wellness to foster a lifetime of good health.

Every effort is made to arrange your child's care and follow-up visits with your child's pediatrician. When your child is ill and needs to be seen the same day, they may see a physician other than your child's regular pediatrician.

Our routine well-child visits schedule follows the American Academy of Pediatrics and Texas Health Steps guidelines.

Immunizations are vital shots given to children at various ages to protect them from serious and potentially fatal childhood diseases. Ensuring your child receives these immunizations on schedule is the best way to safeguard their health. The American Academy of Pediatrics reports that vaccinations have decreased infections from vaccine-preventable diseases by over 90%.

To help protect your child from many serious infectious diseases, we follow the immunization schedule recommended by The American Academy of Pediatrics. Please discuss your immunization questions and concerns with any of our pediatricians.

For non-urgent referrals: Your physician may refer you to a specialist after consultation in the office

For urgent referrals: When urgent referrals are needed, your referral will be initiated immediately.

You will receive a call immediately with any lab results that require urgent attention. Other abnormal lab results will be addressed promptly by the clinician who ordered the labs or tests. Normal values are reviewed and addressed by the care provider who ordered them.

If you have not received a call regarding lab results, please call our office.

For medication refills, please ensure there are no refills available by calling your pharmacy. If there are no refills available, please submit a medication refill request through the patient portal. We are dedicated to ensuring your child’s medications are available when needed.

Please allow 2-3 business days.

ADHD medicines and other controlled medicines require regular follow-up visits (usually every 3 to 6 months) before we can refill them. Texas law requires us to send these prescriptions electronically, and they cannot be refilled early.

The after-hours on-call doctor is for urgent medical questions — not routine refills or controlled medicines. Requesting refills a few days early helps make sure your child never runs out.

Yes, we promote breastfeeding. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends breastfeeding babies for the first six to twelve months. Breastfeeding helps defend children against infections, prevents allergies, and protects against many chronic conditions. 

While experts believe that breast milk is the best nutritional choice for infants, breastfeeding may not be possible for all women. Some women have specific considerations that impede breastfeeding. In these cases, an iron-fortified, milk-based infant formula is a good alternative.

Yes, in fact we strongly encourage parents-to-be to visit our office for a prenatal appointment. This is a great way to get acquainted with our office and our pediatricians. Visit our expecting parents page for more information.

We recommend that your newborn be seen in our office 1-2 days after discharge from the hospital. Our staff understands the importance of this first visit and will make every effort to schedule this visit promptly.
